The anachronism

A project from my school days. I believe the prompt was “reinforced”. I took this and made it relate to “reinforced genetic traits, specifically through inbreeding”.

I call it the Habsburg coat, or the incest coat. The idea behind the piece is to make a garment that relates to several historical silhouettes through the ages, having retained elements from previous generations. Sort of like genetic traits being handed down. In the preservation of these traits there is also a genetic trade off. When everything is the same, things stop working the way they should. Therefore the coat has button holes on both sides of the front, and only a single button to close with.
