Carrying on heritage

My mother and I both own folk costumes, though from different parts of the country. This is my mother’s Skedevidräkt, which she inherited from her mother. When she got it she didn’t have a jacket to go with the outfit, and tasked me to make her one. This was the result.

I used the pattern drafted by Hemslöjden i Östergötland, but made alterations to fit my mum. It is all handsewn in a traditional, handwoven wool/flax blend fabric.
